Easter 2018 children's events

Easter 2018
Everyone enjoyed the bonfire on Easter Eve, followed by two baptisms in church and then Hot Dogs. This ecumenical event was well attended by over 80, and included the blessing of the new wooden baptism bowl.
This was followed by a lovely Easter service, where the children had the chance to make an egg on a lollipop stick, to link into the sermon about "what's in my egg?" - answers - nails, a stone, and nothing!. The service was followed by the traditional Easter egg hunt in the grounds. Everyone happily searched, and then shared their finds with older members of the congregation.

Crib Trail
During Advent 2017, we organised a Crib Trail Quiz. Local shops around Aboyne agreed to have a knitted character from the Nativity in their window. A quiz sheet giving clues to the locations was given to each Primary School age child. Entries were collected and the winner selected during the very popular Crib Service on Christmas Eve. The prize was a wooden Nativity set. It proved to be a popular activity for the start of the Christmas holidays. The service was very well attended, by about 120 people, many dressed as Nativity characters who enjoyed hearing the Christmas story, and singing some well known carols.
The knitted characters were then kept in church in the children's corner.

'St. Thomas' Children's Party' - or 'STomp' for short - is designed for families and children aged 0 to 11.  It is an informal children's church. The idea is to provide an opportunity for children and families to spend time together in church, have fun, meet new friends, learn about Jesus and the wonderful stories of the Bible and of the Church Year.   We sing simple songs with either piano or guitar accompaniment. We don't meet regularly but hold special services at festival times during the year.

We have a STomp prayer said each time:

"This morning God
This is Your day
I am Your child
Show me Your way"
We also STomp our feet every time and there is always a cup of tea or juice in hand with biscuits.
STomp is organised by members of the Family Worship Group.  Everyone and anyone is welcome as long as you are young at heart, although we ask that children are accompanied by an adult unless otherwise arranged in advance.  So, why not come along and STomp!

Morning Worship

The first Sunday of every month, at the usual service time of 11.15 am, is our 'all ages' service where the format is more informal than the usual eucharist and communion is not generally taken.  This service is intended to serve all members of our church, young and not so young.

Special Services

In addition to our general services, various special services are held throughout the year including Harvest Festival, Christingle, the Carol Service and the Crib Service.   The dates for these services can be found on our Church Calendar.
