My Friends,

It is most kind of Sheila to have asked me to write a little something for this issue [of The Tattler - ed]. You know already, I hope, what a joy and privilege it has been to get to know you; AND…how good it is to nurture our various connections between the Deeside congregations.

Christ Church and St Ternan’s are prominently displaying the wide-angle photo of the wonderful choir at Vittoria’s induction, a great image of one of our most treasured connections, already in place: the music! I know various folks from Christ Church have already come along to ‘extended choir’ events with St Thomas over the years. I know we’ll keep finding ways to sing and play together.

Another obvious connection is Pilgrimage: with the Deeside Way at our doorstep, and saints at every bend of the river to guide our feet, what a journey together that could be. With the help of the Rev Prof David Atkinson, chair of the Scottish Pilgrim Routes Forum, Christ Church will be hosting an event on Sunday 31 August on the topic of pilgrimage. The working plan is a 2pm start, involving local heritage and history groups as well as churches, and talking to people who have set up pilgrim routes elsewhere in Scotland. Christ Church has Evensong at 6pm on Fifth Sundays anyway, and so in August we’ll use some kind of musical, prayerful service as culmination of the afternoon’s events. I will be sure to keep you informed as details develop.

Meanwhile, please know my prayers are with you all, as your journey continues with your gifted new Rector. It’s good to be neighbours!

In Christ,

Lisa
