Bishop Bob’s Teaching Sessions on Intercessions and Prayer in Our Churches

posted 3 Nov 2012, 07:23 by St. Thomas' Church Aboyne   [ updated 3 Nov 2012, 07:23 ]

A group of people from our churches, together with a few members from churches further afield, met at St Kentigern’s Church Hall on three consecutive Tuesday evenings at the end of August and early September.  Here, with sensitivity and skill, our Diocesan Bishop, Dr Bob Gillies, led us through a series of sessions about different methods of prayer and how to lead shared prayer within our communities. These were both stimulating and deeply moving occasions, where people were encouraged to be open to God and to share in prayer in an atmosphere of generosity and acceptance.

The hope is that people from the congregations will feel encouraged to lead prayer in our churches on a regular basis on Sundays. I do believe that this is something that we are ready to do as God’s people in this part of Deeside, that God is moving in people’s hearts with a ‘hunger’ for prayer, and that this would significantly enhance our worshipping life together. Our thanks to Bishop Bob for all his help and encouragement, and if anybody does feel that God may be calling them to serve in this kind of prayer ministry, please let me know.
