Happenings in Aboyne

Cherry trees ...

During the summer of 2011 two cherry trees were planted in St Thomas' churchyard. One was planted in the corner near the road by Alan Dennis and his sons in memory of Sue, a much loved wife and mother. The second tree was planted by Gill Scott in memory of Sue Dennis and Pauline Wood. They were both very special friends, fellow pilgrims on a trip to Israel in 1999, always supportive and loyal.

Both Sue and Pauline showed great courage as they battled with cancer and demonstrated true grit during all their treatments. The trees planted in their memory are showing signs of the same determination and have so far survived two harsh winters. Long may they thrive and in the future flower each year to remind us all of two beautiful people.

… and Easter Bonnets

It was Pauline who always liked people to wear their Easter Bonnets for Easter Sunday, and in memory of her, the tradition has grown up in St Thomas’s for some of the ladies to wear their bonnets to the Service.
