News and Notices - Sunday 1st December

posted 2 Dec 2013, 09:11 by St. Thomas' Church Aboyne   [ updated 2 Dec 2013, 09:11 ]
  1. We had a lovely candlelit communion service last night, the church looking really special and some some inspiring music. Thank you to the choir and to all those who donated and lit the candles.
  2. Thank you also to those who prepared the Christingle service earlier in the day, spent Saturday morning preparing Christingles or raking through a dressing-up box for the Angel Oriel's study. It was a lot of work for these two special services, but it was worth it. The 1st Advent candle was lit by Iona Kellas, winner of the Christmas Card competition held by Aboyne churches. These cards, which list all the Christmas services being held by Aboyne churches this December, are being distributed shortly throughout Aboyne by members of the different congregations.
  3. During Advent we have also got mid-week communion services at St Thomas's, on Wednesdays 4th, 11th and 18th December at 9.30 am.
  4.  This is to remind you that on 15th December there is no 11.15 am service. Instead there is STomp at 10.00 am with communion, and at 6pm Nine Lessons and Carols with +Bob.
  5. On 18th December there is a small group meeting at Allachburn to sing carols from 6 pm to 7 pm. You are very welcome to join them.
  6. In recent months, the number of people taking a short cut through the churchyard has increased and a new path is being worn - through and over the graves. Warren has put up a rope and notices to suggest people stick to the paths.
  7. I attach a copy of Centrepoint for December and January. Before I get concerned emails, Lisa has checked +Bob's diary and yes, even though it's not in the column for lack of space, he is coming to St Thomas's for the carol service on 15th December and for Christmas Day.
