From the Rector

  1. Next Saturday, 29th June, St Kentigern’s will be holding their annual Church Fayre at the Victoria Hall in Ballater beginning at two o’clock. I do encourage you to support this if you can.
  2. Next Sunday, 30th June, is a fifth Sunday, and so our morning worship will be a service of Matins. This will be led by Stuart Yarnell, who has very kindly agreed to come and lead this so that I can go to St Ninian’s at Braemar for their Communion Service and say my goodbyes to the congregation there.

  1. At this Sunday's service, we tried another arrangement of chairs, facing south to the small altar which had been moved into position between the windows. I thought it gave a really intimate feel to the service. And it's another arrangement where we can maximise the effect of the heaters, by actually sitting in the space they warm!
  2. Jean Souter was inducted (not sure that's the right word) as a chalice bearer - a lovely piece of prayer and blessing I hadn't seen before.
  3. Last week I commented on Pearl's first flower arrangment for us. There was another this week, again gathered from highways, byways and the riverbank. This just shows you don't need to have a big, mature garden to source your flowers. 'Consider the lilies of the field..... Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.'
  4. A reminder that Daphne has put a box by the marble statue to collect food and toys for distribution to struggling families via Social Services.
