News and Notices - Sunday 2nd February

posted 6 Feb 2014, 09:27 by St. Thomas' Church Aboyne   [ updated 6 Feb 2014, 09:28 ]
  1. Vittoria's induction will be at St Thomas's at 7 pm on Friday 28th February, for the joint congregations of St Thomas's and St Kentigern's. The service will be followed by a reception in the Aboyne and Deeside Community Centre on Bridgeview Road, just opposite the Church (in the Partition Room upstairs).  It will be a splendid welcome to Vittoria and a great community night.  There will be good many guests, +Bob, other clergy and invited representatives from the community. Sheila has already started working on the music with an augmented choir; Jill is co-ordinating flowers on windows and St Kentigern's are providing a pedestal arrangement or similar; Warren and Sue are setting up the church; Jo Elson will co-ordinate setting up the Partition Room; and I am co-ordinating bring-and-share food and drink for the reception.  Please feel free to join a team if you can or provide something for the bring-and-share - just contact us.
  2. Following the clearance of the storm blown trees, there is still a large quantity of timber available for firewood.  Tree clearance is a labour intensive job and the work so far has cost approximately £1,350. Cutting what is left into logs for firewood, and delivery, will cost extra, depending on how many people want firewood.  If you would like firewood, please contact us to say how much you want and the delivery address, if you want it delivered.  We will then work out a price and let you know before proceeding.
  3. The Year Ahead for 2014, so far as we know it , is attached.
  4. Centrepost for February is attached.
  5. Sunday was Candlemas, a lovely family service with candles and cake, about the sweet and sour of this hinge in the year, halfway between Christmas and Easter.
