News and Notices - Sunday 30th March

posted 31 Mar 2014, 03:53 by St. Thomas' Church Aboyne   [ updated 31 Mar 2014, 03:55 ]

Happy Mothering Sunday to all!  How lovely it was to have a packed church with lots of children and grandchildren, and visitors from locally and far away. Caroline provided some pretty colouring for the children to do, and from the choir, it looked like they were kept busy for the whole service. Look out for the baskets of daffodils cut out and stuck on the STomp poster.  It was Vittoria’s birthday and everyone enjoyed singing for her – and helping to eat the cake!

  1. Date for the Diary: Sunday 13th April, 6pm 'The Passion of Christ', Arthur Somervell. St Thomas', Aboyne.
  2. Vittoria has asked if there are any members of the congregation trained in First Aid – we ought to have nominated people to cover this at each service. Warren and I have been trained in the past and probably are due a renewal. If there is anyone out there with an up to date certificate, please contact Vittoria or one of the Vestry.
  3. Bishop’s Appeal – as of today we have raised £15.02. Hopefully this will be increased after the Friendship lunch on Wednesday.
  4. Also – good news on the financial front. we have now received our Gift Aid payment for 2011 - 2012. This makes a huge difference to our finances, so thank you.
  5. We have received a generous donation, mainly towards any works in the churchyard and grounds. Gift Aid can be claimed on this, and the donor has asked that some of this be added to our Penny Aid appeal to make up enough for a second well in St Thomas name. The Vestry will discuss how the rest of the donation is spent. Many thanks.
We hope Anne has enjoyed her break
