From the Rector

  1. Firstly, I have to tell you that I have to be away unexpectedly this week until Thursday and also next week until Thursday as well. One of the reasons is that a friend of mine has died and I have been asked to take the funeral service. If there are any pastoral emergencies while I am away, would you please contact Stuart Yarnell in Ballater.
  2. However, our Tuesday morning services of Holy Communion at half past nine will still take place as Dr Hugh Dawson has very kindly agreed to lead the service. As usual, all are most welcome at the service.
  3. A reminder to those who attend that the Lent Course meeting here in Aboyne will NOT meet for the next two Wednesdays. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 20th March at a quarter past seven.
  4. As I mentioned over the last few weeks, next Sunday, 10th March, at 6 o’clock, the Deeside Choristers have agreed to come and sing Choral Evensong here at St Thomas’s. Please do support this if you possibly can – it promises to be a very special evening.

  1. We had a welcome visitor today - Kate Gibson is staying in Aboyne until 27 March. Contact us if you would like to get in touch.
  2. Next week, 10th March, is Mothering Sunday. My thanks to all those who responded to my plea for help, and especially to the one who will get me out of a hole. This is intended to be cryptic, and YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
  3. Sue tells me that Fairtrade have reached their target of placing 100 tonnes of rice. She herself is still selling her contribution to this great effort, but it's going well, There's a lot of cubs and brownies eating curry in Aboyne these days.
  4. I see a poster has gone up about Easter Bonnets. This is becoming a tradition at St Thomas's so let's get decorating now.
