News and Notices - Sunday 5th January

posted 9 Jan 2014, 09:16 by St. Thomas' Church Aboyne   [ updated 9 Jan 2014, 09:16 ]
  1. The Rainy Day Appeal was set to run from Harvest to this Sunday.  If anyone still has a Rainy Day Bag, please could they bring it to the church before 30th January, so the grand total can be reported.  Please leave bags on the desk by the door. From today, any coins collected in the large jars will go towards the next appeal which will be announced soon.
  2. Two keys have been found in one of the Rainy Day Appeal bags - one with a blue tag, one with a green tag.  Please contact us if these are yours.
  3. About half the trees blown down in the storms have now been cut and the rest should be finished next weekend.  Some long lengths are being used to restrict access to the graves and help keep people to the footpaths. The rest has been cut into 1 metre lengths and stacked, available as firewood. The cost of cutting up the trees will be about £1,500, so donations for the firewood will be very much appreciated.  Please contact us if you would be interested in any of the firewood.
  4. Contributions are again being sought for the next issue of The Tattler. Please let Sheila have them as soon as possible, but anyway by Tuesday 14th January. It would be lovely to have lots of interesting articles, news and short fillers, serious or otherwise.
