Organ Recital by Jonathan Scott, at Aboyne-Dinnet Church

posted 1 Aug 2013, 05:37 by St. Thomas' Church Aboyne   [ updated 1 Aug 2013, 05:37 ]

In September we will have the opportunity to hear this brilliant young organist play the Aboyne-Dinnet church organ. Jonathan is a member of the keyboard faculty at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, and is also organist-in-residence at Salford University. He has played both piano and organ concertos with many international orchestras and received great acclaim.

Jonathan and his brother Tom are returning to Aboyne after a five year interval to play another concert of piano duets for Strathdee Music on Saturday 28th September. This will be in the Deeside Theatre at 7.30pm, and the programme includes music by Albeniz, Brahms and Schubert. You can listen to some of their music if you go to their website:

We are delighted that while he is here, Jonathan has agreed to give another organ recital, this time in Aboyne-Dinnet Church, on Sunday afternoon, 29th September, at 3.00pm.

We were all amazed at the wonderful music he played on the organ in St Thomas’ on previous visits, and we look forward to hearing him play the Aboyne-Dinnet organ. His programme will include music by Bach, Elgar, Phillip Glass and a piece specially written by brother Tom, “Sesquialtera”.

Please come to this special event and encourage your friends to come too. There will be no charge but donations, to be shared between the Aboyne-Dinnet Church and Strathdee Music Club, will be very welcome. After the recital refreshments will be served in the church hall, when there will be an opportunity to meet Jonathan.
