Rectory update

posted 2 Dec 2013, 09:55 by St. Thomas' Church Aboyne   [ updated 2 Dec 2013, 09:55 ]

Great progress on the improvement works at the Rectory:

  • The downstairs windows replacement with double glazed units is now complete, as planned. (the upstairs windows will be done in future years, to spread the expenditure).
  • After several working parties in the garden, it is now looking so much tidier. Many trailer loads of overgrown shrubs have been removed, as well as the old 'summer- house' which was beyond repair. In fact, now that it has been removed, the west side of the house has much improved light.
  • The painting programme started on Thursday 7th November and good progress was made on the inside. Unfortunately the painters had to go to another job for a week, but they are aiming to complete the inside by the 22nd Nov. The outside painting will be very dependent on the weather and this will most likely be left until next Spring.
  • There are three other jobs planned:
    • Repairs to gutters and downpipes - preparations are in progress, arranged by Marcus Humphrey.
    • Add extra layer of insulation to the loft. Warren Burgess will be fitting this and if anyone can help with this, please let him know. Timing still to be arranged.
    • Improve the ventilation fans from the bathrooms and kitchen to prevent condensation. Michael Bruce is arranging this.
