Easter Sunday coincided with STomp day this year, so we decided to run an extended Easter craft session in the Community Centre. We had a great turnout of children, including several visiting grandchildren and friends. There was lots to do – colouring in wooden egg decorations, making and decorating Easter baskets, and the favourite – decorating cupcakes and making chocolate nests for mini eggs and baby chicks, especially as we ate them almost straight away. We had a fun game of “ pin the tail on the donkey” to start the Easter story and ended joining the congregation in church, before a mad dash for the Easter Egg hunt outside after the service. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and most ended up covered in chocolate. Many thanks to all the helpers on the day – we needed all the spare hands!

In May, STomp “built” a church – using the popular game of Jenga, with huge wooden blocks, on which were stuck pictures coloured in by STomp members of the different people who help to run the church. The idea was that without each person, the church would be weaker, and it is stronger if we all work together.

One at a time, the blocks were removed, and we waited anxiously to see if the church would fall down – it was weakened each time, but the final straw was removing the “bible” block and the crash was impressive. We sang a building song, and managed to sing faster and faster, to great amusement by all.
