St Thomas’ Spirituality & Worship Advisory Group

The great gift of the upper Deeside congregations is the talents of the people here, and willingness to share in leadership and service. As you know, St Thomas has been organising this valuable asset into strategic teams who advise the Vestry in various areas of our common life. This past month we launched the long longed-for Spirituality & Worship Advisory Group, whose remit is in the title.

Representation includes organist Sheila Maxwell, sacristans Irene Legge and Jean Souter, intercessory prayer coordinator Marie Wilde, and Sue Burgess from the Family Worship Advisory Group. I was there to encourage and convene us all, as your interim priest-in-charge. I know what a terrific support this group will be to your next Rector.

It was a most auspicious beginning, with rich and caring discussion covering everything from the rotas, the altar goods, small but helpful improvements to our Sunday worship plans, seasonal specials, and the new Intercession Book (see Marie’s article in this edition). We will be meeting next in early February to look at Lent and Easter. Please speak to one of us, or a member of the Vestry, if you have comments or questions for this group.

Note: The other Vestry action/advisory groups are the Community Action Group, Communications Advisory Group, and Family Worship Advisory Group.
