December 2012

The financial situation at St Thomas’ is looking much better at the end of the year, than it was at the beginning. Full accounts will be available at the AGM on 9th December. At present they are being prepared for the independent examiner. It is also hoped to submit them to OSCR before the year end – well ahead of the June deadline. There are still challenges ahead – following the quinquennial reports on the Church and Rectory completed in October, there will be significant repair and maintenance costs for the Rectory during the next year. The reports will also be available at the AGM if anyone would like to see them. This year, they have taken a new format following guidelines from the Diocese, and provide an excellent, detailed appraisal of the state of both buildings, and a planning tool for necessary future work. Many thanks to Gerry Robb for his considerable efforts in preparing these. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Isobel Cargill who deals with all the collections in church and provides considerable support to me through the year.
